Help Our Cause

If you have a couple of hours to spare and a specific skill set you are willing to donate to our organization, we would greatly appreciate your help.  The biggest need we  have on a daily basis is laundry and dishes.  This helps to free up our kennel techs time to perform other duties around our shelter that they have been specifically trained to do. All on site volunteers must have a completed waiver on file.  Please coordinate with a member of our management team to identify your availability and areas of interest so they can coordinate when would be the best time for you to help (i.e. there may be others helping at a specific time and not enough room for everyone to be able to perform their duties) as we are limited on space. Animals significantly benefit from having a calmer environment, away from the other animals at the shelter.  Especially animals recovering from or undergoing medical treatment. Litters of puppies and kittens are fragile and need loving and calm spaces where they can receive the attention they deserve. White River Humane Society is in need of fosters to help get these animals and babies out of the shelter to keep them healthy. If you have a safe spot in your home to keep these animals until we can find them forever families, please fill out an application. We always need advocates to inform the community about programs we offer and updates from the shelter.  We encourage you to follow us on Facebook and Instagram and share our posts frequently.  Our shelter is not fully funded through the municipalities we serve and we have many challenges in our existing facility such as limited space, failing systems such as our air filtration and plumbing, etc.  We are sometimes short handed and a lot of the times every single one of our kennels has an animal housed inside.  We're not perfect, but we're doing the best we can with what resources we have.
