Just a reminder

Just a friendly reminder...White River Humane Society does not pick up dogs or cats. Pets are brought to the shelter by city and county animal control and the public. When they arrive at WRHS they are given an initial vaccination (not rabies), scanned for a microchip, posted on our Facebook page as a courtesy post and are held for their stray hold based on local ordinances for owners to reclaim their pet.

If not claimed, dogs are tested for heartworm disease and cats are tested for feline diseases. Pets are then posted on our website and Facebook as eligible for adoption to the public.  Accidents happen. If you lose your pet, check with the shelter and keep checking. WRHS will make every effort possible to reunite responsible owners with their pets. Please spay and neuter your pets. WRHS often has vouchers to help offset the cost by applying for grant funding to spay and neuter pets. Please microchip your pets. With proof of ownership, WRHS also has low cost microchipping for the public with no registration fees or annual fees.
