Your support and contributions will enable us to help the homeless animals at WRHS. Your generous donation will fund our mission. If you would like your donation to go to something specific please send us an email at whiteriverhumanesociety@gmail.com and let us know what that is.
The following opportunities will let you experience the many ways you can make a difference in the lives of the animals at the WRHS. If you can help with any task below, we would greatly appreciate the donation of your time. It helps increase the socialization of the animals with more people to become even more adoptable!
Volunteering will be on a scheduled basis so every volunteer can be utilized effectively.

We always need fosters for our animals! There are some animals that come into the shelter who need a quieter environment or extra work to become adoptable whether it be behavior or medical. This is where a foster family comes in.
When you don't want the lifetime commitment of adopting a pet, but you want to make a difference in an animal's life, fostering is the right option for you. Below is our foster form that you can fill out and return to us so we know what types of animals you are interested in helping.

We will contact you as soon as an animal in need of your help comes along. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at whiteriverhumanesociety@gmail.com.
We always need help with cleaning, dishes, laundry and maintenance of our property. If you have a couple of hours to spare and a specific skill set you are willing to donate to our organization, we would greatly appreciate your help. The biggest need we have on a daily basis is laundry and dishes. This helps to free up our kennel techs time to perform other duties around our shelter that they have been specifically trained to do. All on site volunteers must have a completed waiver on file. Please coordinate with a member of our management team to identify your availability and areas of interest so they can coordinate when would be the best time for you to help (i.e. there may be others helping at a specific time and not enough room for everyone to be able to perform their duties) as we are limited on space.
The WRHS collects aluminum all year. You may drop your cans off at the shelter (located on 3511 Pumphouse Road). WRHS will then haul them to the recycling depot. Thank you in advance for helping the animals and the environment.
We always need supplies to care for the animals at WRHS. Here are some resources to help you spread the word and ask for donations. Whether it's in honor of a birthday, or in memory of a loved one or four legged friend, or 'just because' we could always use replenishment of supplies.

Use our Pet Supply Needs list below for inspiration. Please note that there are specific food brands mentioned to reduce occurrences of upset tummies due to switching food. Also, in a shelter operation, some items are not as useful as they would be in a home environment. For example plush pet bedding is something that needs to be sanitized and laundered daily and we do not have the resources to keep up with that demand. While it is a thoughtful gesture, it is not conducive to our operation.

We have circumstances where animals would significantly benefit from having a calmer environment away from the other animals at the shelter. For example, animals recovering from or undergoing medical treatment. Sadly too many cats and dogs that have not been spayed and neutered and are having babies. White River Humane Society is in need of fosters to help get these animals and babies out of the shelter to keep them healthy. If you have a safe spot in your home to keep these animals until we can find them forever families please fill out an application. WRHS supplies all of the fosters needs including medicine, food and necessary supplies. Click the link to apply to become a foster: https://form.jotform.com/202705966521052
