Feline Facts

It is easy for cats to catch upper respiratory infections when they are in a shelter environment. While we work diligently to disinfect kennels and administer medications to the symptomatic cats, please know that it is equivalent to kids catching a common cold in a classroom and they will get past it with rest, a less stressful environment and care.

FIV is primarily spread through bite wounds during territorial disputes or aggressive encounters between outdoor cats. Therefore, Finch would have to be kept indoors. It’s important to note that casual contact, such as grooming, sharing food bowls, or simply being in close proximity, is not a significant mode of transmission to other cats.
